The Estonian retail chain of building materials is to open the DIY centre BAUHOF – its first centre within the BABILONAS project in Panevezys, the fifth biggest city in Lithuania. The second 8,000 m2 BAUHOF centre in BRUKLINAS, the other project developed by OGMIOS REAL ESTATE in Siauliai city, is to be opened in June 2008.
City within the city BABILONAS, the biggest project in Lithuania (up to 400,000 m² upon completion), Vilnius is being developed on a 80 ha territory. It will consist of several shopping centres, office/residential towers, entertainment zones, a multi-industry district, a car retail and service square and a residential district.
Upon completion of interior and leisure centre BABILONAS 2 and DIY centre BAUHOF, the 52,000 m² retail scheme will form the biggest one in the region.
BABILONAS is located by the Via Baltica highway in the midway between Vilnius (the capital of Lithuania) and Riga (the capital of Latvia) and is easily reached both by the inhabitants of Panevezys and visitors from other districts. BABILONAS has splendid potential to grow. Moreover, a four-lane street that was opened in December 2007 and connecting BAUHOF, CRAMO and the agricultural machinery centre KESKO AGRO with the third shopping centre BABILONAS, should become a part of a new city bypass in future.
